My
mission is to help you learn how to effectively communicate with your canine friend and develop a strong bond based on trust
and respect. I want to help you enjoy your dog to the fullest extent. I use a combination of positive reinforcement training
and management to teach you how to get your dog to behave in a way you want. At Fido FUNdamentals LLC, all trainers and assistants
value each human and dog client as unique individuals and treat all with respect and compassion. I understand how difficult
it can be to make time to train the family dog these days. I can teach you how to incorporate teaching Fido good manners into
your daily routine. I pledge I will provide quality service that exceeds your expectations.
You will learn what drives your dog's behavior and how
to become a leader without the use of force or pain. You will learn how to teach new behaviors using positive reinforcement
and how to get Fido to listen. The techniques we use are based on proven learning theory and are the same methods used with
sea mammals such as whales and dolphins, both for entertainment venues and for open water work.
What we don't do is use force, intimidation or pain to try to get the dog to change behavior. We do not promote
or use pinch, choke or shock collars. Research has shown that the most effective methods are based on the use of positive
reinforcement, and that harsh methods can actually cause fear and even aggression. While it sometimes seems that a harsh correction
stops behavior, it really only suppresses the behavior, and you haven't really taught the dog what you DO want. Harsh
corrections, shouting, scolding and nagging weaken the trust and bond you desire with your dog and only teach your dog to
fear you or avoid offering behaviors in your presence. By adhering to proven methods grounded in the science of animal behavior
and learning theory, we will help you achieve your goals for your dog in a kind, humane way the whole family can understand
and implement.
While it
is true you can teach old dogs new tricks, the earlier you start training, the sooner you can enjoy the results. If you have
a puppy, you can mold the puppy's behavior from the start and prevent problems from developing. If you have an adult dog,
you can learn how to change annoying behaviors and get Fido to behave the way you want him to behave. Dogs give us so much
in life; they deserve kind, compassionate treatment. Become a leader through effective communication, not intimidation. You
will be glad you did and Fido will thank you!
