New Puppy Package - In Your Home:
I'll come to your home and help you "puppy proof" your home so your puppy can't practice unwanted
behaviors. You will get help with house and crate training, appropriate chew training, rough play, nipping and jumping
behavior and other issues you may have with your new puppy as well as learn the basics of how dogs learn and how to teach
behaviors using positive, puppy friendly methods. It is recommended you also attend a puppy socialization class for
the important benefits such as puppy and people socialization and to continue your puppy's education about bite inhibition
and appropriate manners in public.
Private,
One on One Training:
No time for group
classes? Do you have just one or two things you'd like to work on with Fido? Sometimes it is more time effective to get
one on one coaching rather than attend a 6 or 7 week class and have to work at the same pace as other class members. If your
dog just needs some polishing on a few behaviors, private lessons might be just the key to work training into your busy schedule.
Sometimes it is necessary to work with Fido on his excitability before a group class is appropriate for him. Dogs cannot
learn when they are over aroused, and group classes are often too much for a dog with this issue. Dogs that are reactive on
leash and bark/growl/lunge at other dogs often need some help privately before joining a group class.
Play and Train Packages:
If you would like Fido to get more exercise and socialization
AND get some training while you are away, a Play and Train package just might be what you need. Through a partnership with
Bark Town USA Dog Day Care in Howell, your dog can spend the day playing with short breaks for rest and for training. You
pick the behavior you want trained. Is Fido jumping up on everyone he meets? Does he pull you every which way on walks?
I will work with your dog on specific issues and then spend one session with you and your dog to make sure you know how to
maintain the behavior.
Train
and Transfer - Day Training:
No time to train your dog yourself? Do you have a busy schedule and limited time to spend training
Fido to behave at home? I can set up a series of private sessions in your home and teach your dog basic manners such as sit,
down, stay and walk on leash while you are away. I would then "transfer" the knowledge to you on how to maintain the behaviors taught. I
would also recommend management options that would reduce or eliminate behavior problems such as destructive chewing, excessive
barking, house soiling and other issues you may be having.
Behavior Problems:
Does your dog lunge and growl at other dogs or people on walks? Does Fido react fearfully to
people and other dogs at home or in your neighborhood? Is Fido's greeting behavior at the door out of control?
Does he steal and chew up your things? Private behavior consults are designed to assess the situation and help you develop
a plan for behavior management and modification that will help you become a benevelent leader and improve Fido's manners
at home and in public. Using proven, dog friendly techniques that are easy for pet owners to learn, we will work to change
Fido's response to difficult situations, whether it be fear of strangers, reactivity to other dogs or just excitable behavior
around guests.
